Q: Are all markets in Wichita operated by the same group?

No. We are not associated with other markets in Wichita. FarmShop, LLC owns and operates Old Town Farm & Art Market.

Q: How do I apply to the Market?

Prospective vendors must go through the following application process to be eligible to join the Market:

  1. Meet the Market Standards.

  2. Agree to and have a clear understanding of the Market’s Rules and Regulations.

  3. Complete and submit the online Vendor Application.

Q: Are vendor applications open throughout the season?

Absolutely! We accept new vendors all season long. We’re here when you’re ready.

Q: If I reserve a specific date on my application, am I guaranteed a spot?

It depends.

Similar to retail stores maintaining product inventory, we approve vendor companies and products based on quality, consumer need, or perceived need for the goods offered. We are committed to managing the Market’s product categories to protect vendor company sales as well as to build customer loyalty by ensuring the goods our customers expect are available consistently.

Priority for stall space assignments is given based on a weighted average of several factors such as consumer demand and vendor company support. For example, two pie vendors selling on the same day will sell well, yet spreading those sales across five pie vendors selling on the same day may not. Your dates will be reviewed during the application approval process and may need to be amended.

Competition is good! Just because there is already a vendor selling goods or products like yours, does not mean the Market can’t support your business.

Q: What does it cost to be a vendor and how big are the stall spaces?

Due to the level of attention required to review, process, and verify information presented in vendor applications, a non-refundable $60 fee must accompany all applications for all vendors.

Stall fees as outlined below can be prepaid or paid weekly.

  • Tier 1: (18 plus Markets) $30 per stall space per Market.

  • Tier 2: (7 to 17 Markets) $40 per stall space per Market.

  • Tier 3: (6 or less Markets) $60 per stall space per Market.

  • Stall space is 10x10 feet (10x10 canopy required.)

  • We rent canopies. Check below for more information.

  • Vendors may rent up to two stall spaces per Market day.

Q: How many vendors participate at the Market?

We hosted more than 130 vendor companies in 2023, although all do not attend weekly. The Market site consists of both Farm & Art Market Plaza and parts of Mosley and Rock Island Streets giving us ample space in the bustling, shopping and entertainment district of Old Town Wichita.

Q: How often does the Market run?

The Market is open every Saturday (except the Saturday after Thanksgiving) April through the third Saturday in December.

April - October: 8am-1pm

November - December: 10am-1pm

Small business is essential! You can count on us to fight for the rights of small business while fostering a local economy where access to food producers, artists, and artisans is convenient and fun.

Q: What type of products are allowed to sell at the Market?

If your products meet our Standards, are grown, raised, created, or produced in Kansas, we’re interested. A strictly limited number of vendors may be allowed to sell items from out of state sources (such as Fair or Direct Trade). If your products don’t fit this criteria, but you think your goods would be a great fit, contact us!

  • Products fit for a flea market will not be approved.

  • No Multilevel Marketing (MLM) businesses.

  • All signs, clothing, stickers, symbols, etc. that could be deemed to be political or advancing one’s ideology is prohibited. This zero-tolerance rule applies to vendors, products, and guest organizations.

See our Standards page for detailed information.

Q: Do I need a special license or permit to participate?

Food sales are regulated by the Kansas Department of Agriculture and may be subject to special licensing. See the Food Sales at Kansas Farmers' Markets for details. If you don’t sell food, no license or permit is required.

Q: How do I get a sales tax certificate?

Sales tax must be collected on sales at the Market as required by Kansas law. All vendors must have a Sales Tax Certificate present at their stall at all times. See below for information on how to obtain a tax certificate.

1: Set up an account by registering your business with the Kansas Department of Revenue Customer Service Center: Sales Tax - Dept. of Revenue

2: Once you have registered for an account and logged into the customer service center, fill out the questionnaire to receive your certificate of insurance.

The linked site is intended to assist you in understanding how the Kansas sales and use tax applies to your business operation. Inside you will find information on what is taxable, what is exempt, how to collect, report, and pay your sales and use tax electronically, and other information of general interest to businesses.

Q: Do I need liability insurance?

Only if you sell food. All Vendors selling food for human consumption are required to carry Product Liability Insurance. Looking for a policy? See our Resource Library.

Q: Are canopies required?

Yes. A 10 ft. by 10 ft. canopy is required for all Markets.

Canopies and tables can be rented from the Market. Availability is limited.

  • One 10’x10’ canopy: $20 per week (weights included)

  • Canopy setup and takedown: $10 per week

  • One 6’ table: $5.00 each per week

  • Canopy weights: $5.00 each per week

Q: Is electricity available for vendors?

Limited access to 110v electricity is available for $5.00 for each appliance per Market Day upon reserved request. Approved vendors will be assigned a specific outlet based on their usage requirement. Vendors must supply their own heavy-duty outdoor extension cords and tape every 12” and/or cover with an adequate number of mats/runners where necessary to reduce the possibility of tripping hazards. Priority for electricity goes to vendors who require it to conduct business.

Q: Are there restrooms close by?

You bet. We have 5 clean public restrooms on Mosley (S/E corner of Farm & Art Market Plaza) and our friends at Hotel at Old Town allow Market vendors access to theirs as well.

Q: Where do vendors park?

If you’re assigned a space on the perimeter of the Plaza, your vehicle may be next to your canopy. If not, we have our load-in/out process down pat so you should be able to pull right up to your assigned spot to unload and load back up easily.

Parking spaces close to the Market site should be considered customer parking and are not be used by vendors. Luckily, the Market offers the most convenient parking in downtown Wichita for both vendors and our customers.

Q: What if bad weather is forecasted on a Market day?

We are a rain or shine Market. We will not cancel a Market due to weather unless it’s determined that it will be unsafe for vendors and attendees. Believe it or not, bad weather doesn’t stop our customers! Many vendors report record sales on cold and/or rainy days.

Q: Have you seen our vendor profile page?

Ok, that’s not a FAQ, but you should know our Vendor Profile page is accessed by tens of thousands of unique visitors every year. Folks can click on your company name to learn more about what you do and when you’re at Market; they’ll find links to your website, social media channel(s), and find how to best contact you.

Q: How will I know where my stall space is located on Market day?

Our Interactive Map is updated each Thursday and reflects who is at Market that week and where they are located.

New vendors simply check in at the Information Booth when they arrive and we show them the ropes. This type of information will also be covered during the orientation process.
